Our chief trader, Chris Melendez, is also the CEO of
Tempest Asset Management. He brings with him an extensive resume with well
over a decade of experience in the Forex industry. From Wall Street and
other financial centers around the world Mr. Melendez and his
professionally trained staff provide an investment team that ranks among
the very best in the industry. Originally trained at Deutsche Bank, New
York/ Frankfurt in the late 80’s, Chris moved up to become a currency
dealer at Standard Chartered Bank in Los Angeles/London/Singapore. He
later went on to be the Senior Dealer at Smith Barney Shearson of New
York. His expertise in the currency field did not go un-noticed, and in
1994 he went on to become one of the Chief Currency Dealers at Credit Lyonnais Rouse of New York, London and Munich. While at Credit Lyonnais
Rouse, he developed the system of trading that he currently uses. This
same system helped Chris to become the top global currency trader in the
entire firm! After making millions of dollars for some of the world's
largest banks and brokerage firms, Chris left Wall Street to take a job as
the Senior Currency Dealer and Vice President of Sanwa Bank California in
Los Angeles. While at Sanwa his duties included the management of their
global currency book-- an investment fund in excess of one billion
dollars!

“Chris’s reputation with the Wall Street money center
banks is formidable …we very much value his exhaustive
repertory of contacts throughout the Forex dealing world.”

When Mr. Melendez left the public sector to form Tempest Asset Management,
he brought with him an experienced team of traders and proven trading
techniques that utilize sound risk management practices. In addition,
Chris has an impressive personal network of contacts from leading
institutions at financial centers around the world. He has a very
disciplined approach that always looks for quality risk-reward
opportunities with pre-determined exit points. If the loss levels are
reached, they are cut quickly, limiting potential drawdowns, while profits
are allowed to run with trailing stops. He capitalizes on long-term trends
and short-term aberrations using a mixture of short and medium-term
quantitative analysis and evaluation of market psychology. Countless hours
of in-depth research into economic and political fundamentals is integral
to his trading. These combined components allow Mr. Melendez and his team
of traders to differentiate between perception and reality and provide his
investors with an unparalleled advantage in the marketplace. Using his
current trading system, Mr. Melendez has consistently returned an average
net profit in excess of 3% per month - after fees over the last five years.
(Note: Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results.)
Mr. Melendez has been a keynote speaker at seminars and universities
around the world, including a symposium on economic reform along side
George Bush Sr. and Henry Kissinger. He has been published countless times
in many of the world’s top financial publications, including: Reuters,
Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, The
Financial Times, and does a regularly scheduled weekly broadcast on CNBC
Asia Squawk Box. In fact, he was named by Bridge News as one of the best
short-term traders in the world.
| “Chris Melendez has always had the pulse of
foreign exchange trading at his fingertips, when I first
talked with him while he was at Sanwa, and then later when he
became a partner in a new firm. Most FX experts understand the
macroeconomic forces at play that are setting the overall
trend, but very few feel the intra-day skirmishes that shape
up short-term trading decisions as well as Melendez”.
- Kevin Pendley, Chief Editor Bridge News |
